Match tailoring with your timepiece
Every man likes to have a bit of arm candy, but the idea of it being blonde and busty is about as out-dated as Hugh Hefner. Instead, it’s about what you wear on your wrist. And with four distinct styles it’s easy to work out what kind of tailoring to match to your timepiece.
For the traditional man who likes a pocket watch, then this grey Prince of Wales check suit, £399, is the tailoring equivalent. Classic, smart, but with the slim single breasted jacket also refreshingly modern, it’s proof that old values still fit with today’s fashions.
Sporty, young and slim men tend to go for sporty, young and slim watch brands, such as Toy Watch. The bright neon colours of a Toy might not work ideally for the office, but for men who wear them at weekends this Plain Charcoal Gaberdine Suit, £350, will, accentuating the shoulders to make them broader and cutting in at the waist to create that perfect triangular torso. And in deep black, unlike the Toy Watch, it can be worn for any occasion.
Of course, the Rolex wearer needs a suit as sharp as his strap, and this CUT Charcoal Herringbone suit, £500 was exclusively designed for Austin Reed by Richard James of Savile Row. Made from 100% wool, it is as classy and classic as even a Cartier watch, and will give the illusion of shape to even the most rectangular body.
For men who don’t want the overstated glamour of a Rolex, but still like a bit of bling with a TAG Heuer, the RED Charcoal Stripe suit, £375, has an expensive-looking pinstripe that doesn’t scream class, but whispers it gently. Which, let’s face it, is the best way to say it.
